Tijdens de BBC ‘Sports Personality of the Year’, kortweg BBC SPOTY, werd Andy Murray verkozen tot sportpersoonlijkheid van het jaar. Er ging in Groot-Brittannië echter vooral ook veel aandacht naar de outfit van Lewis Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton kon zelf niet aanwezig zijn tijdens de uitreiking van de awards. De Brit liet via een videoboodschap uit het Amerikaanse Colorado wel van zich horen, al ging de aandacht vooral uit naar de outfit van Hamilton.
De Brit stond in het verleden al meermaals in het middelpunt van de belangstelling door zijn outfits. Op diverse sociale media werd dan ook de spot gedreven met de Brit.
