Het Mercedes F1 team moet zich na afloop van de kwalificatie bij de stewards melden voor een mogelijke inbreuk op het technisch reglement. Er zou een probleem zijn met het DRS op de F1-bolide van Lewis Hamilton. Mogelijk wordt Hamilton gediskwalificeerd, wat zou betekenen dat hij helemaal achteraan of zelfs vanuit de pitlane aan de sprintrace zou moeten beginnen.
Technisch afgevaardigde Jo Bauer nam het volgende op in zijn verslag:
“The uppermost rear wing element adjustable positions were checked on car number 44 for compliance with Article 3.6.3 of the 2021 Formula One Technical Regulations,” stated a bulletin written up by FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer.
“The requirement for the minimum distance was fulfilled. But the requirement for the maximum of 85mm, when the DRS system is deployed and tested in accordance with TD/011-19, were not fulfilled.
“I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration.”
Assuming he is disqualified then the infringement will need rectifying, and the cars are in parc ferme from the start of qualifying. Adjusting the rear wing would be a set-up change, so that would make it a pit lane start #F1 #BrazilGP
